Our interpersonal relationships are strained. We are reserved, often make excuses or avoid contact altogether. But why is that?
This question has bothered me for a long time and I have come to the conclusion that it is a mixture of insecurity, fear of rejection and a lack of empathy.
How can we solve this problem? Perhaps we need to first become aware of and accept our own insecurities. Because only when we can accept ourselves can we be open to others.
The next step is empathy. To empathize and try to understand the other would be helpful. Because everyone has their own story and their own package to carry.
If each of us takes a small step - be it a sincere compliment or simply asking how someone is doing - we can together contribute to a more open society.
