"Stifado and Retsina" 120 x 150 cm, Oil on Canvas

Sitting in a quaint Greek restaurant on the magical island of Corfu was a man named Michael. He was a typical workaholic who spent his days working in a hectic office in the big city with little time for himself or his loved ones. But this time everything was different. On the recommendation of a friend, he had decided to take some much-needed time off and relax in Corfu.

As Michael sat on the restaurant's terrace, he was enchanted by the breathtaking view of the deep blue sea gently lapping onto the shore. The warm summer sun shone on his face and he felt the stress and worries of everyday life slowly slipping away.

The waitress brought him the menu and recommended the traditional Greek stifado. "It's one of our most popular dishes," she explained with a friendly smile. "The tender meat is slowly braised in a delicious sauce made from tomatoes, onions and spices. We serve it with a side dish of your choice."

Michael agreed and was excited to try this local specialty. As a drink he ordered a chilled Retsina, which was recommended to him as the perfect accompaniment to the Stifado.

As he waited for his food, Michael watched the fishing boats bobbing in the distance on the calm water and heard the soothing sound of seagulls circling overhead. He couldn't remember the last time he had been so relaxed and in tune with nature.

When the food was finally served, Michael couldn't resist the tempting smell of the Stifado. The tender meat literally melted in his mouth and the spicy sauce was simply divine. Plus the Retsina - a refreshing white wine with a slightly resinous aroma - which went perfectly with the hearty dish. It was a real culinary delight.

As he finished his plate and drank the last sip of Retsina, Michael noticed how happy he felt. The combination of delicious food, refreshing wine and the idyllic surroundings made him so grateful for this time out in Corfu...
